In addition, in recent years, the number of establishments producing coconut products has expanded in Tra Vinh, so the demand for dried coconut increased by 2-3 times compared to the supply in the rainy season.


Tra Vinh province currently has over 50 enterprises, cooperatives and business households involved in the production, processing and export of coconut with many products such as desiccated coconut, coconut milk, canned coconut water, coconut oil, coconut shell charcoal, coconut fiber, coconut humus, cosmetics from coconuts and many other items for both domestic and export markets.

Tra Vinh is the province with the second largest coconut growing area in the Mekong Delta region, after Ben Tre province. The whole province currently has more than 22,700 hectares of coconut gardens, equivalent to about 3 million coconut trees, giving an average yield of 15.3 tons / ha / year, reaching a total output of 263,812 tons, equivalent to 220 million fruits / year.

Faced with the increasing demand for raw coconut materials, Tra Vinh province plans to enhance the coconut tree value chain and expand its planted area.

Specifically, the Management Board of the Tra Vinh Small and Medium Enterprise Development Project (SME Tra Vinh Project) is the host unit assisting farmers and businesses in implementing the province's coconut industry development strategy.

Accordingly, the Tra Vinh SME Project Management Board acts as a "bridge" to connect businesses outside the province with businesses, cooperatives and farmers in the province, linking from planting to supplying raw coconut in the direction of focus, quality.


Besides, improving the capacity to access and link domestic and foreign markets; promote and support small and medium-sized enterprises in the province to develop product diversification to enhance the value chain, helping coconut farmers to have high and sustainable income.
